Among the ever growing number of respiratory diseases one in particular seems overwhelming daunting. Everyday 10 million people worldwide come into contact with cold causing viruses

Despite many efforts that have been put in place to curb this situation, the figures just keep soaring. This is why I’ve researched and analysed four special herbs for the treatment of cold without going to a hospital.

A person suffering from cold.

Rosemary

This herb above is very common on the market in many countries all over the world. Rosemary is an age-old herb known to provide relief for cold and sore throat. Known for its antiviral and antimicrobial properties,it is said to stimulate the blood circulation to the brain to ease headaches. Inhaling the steam from it’s boiled leaves helps effectively for nasal and chest congestion.

Ginger

Ginger is referred to medicinally as a diaphoretic. In other words,it is a compound that can induce sweating. This feature makes ginger highly effective when it comes to relieving flu symptoms or even breaking a fever. Ginger can be consumed as a spice in meals or in the form of tea. It’s highly effective at relieving the symptoms of a sore throat or cold especially when it is crushed and mixed with hot water that can be shipped and gargled with.

Basil

This herb is very common in my country Ghana.Basil can aid in reducing symptoms of coughs, colds and flu because of its unique qualities. One of the best ways to consume this herb for effective change is to garnish with salad, soups or any other meal.

Red Clover

This herb isn’t very common but very effective for the treatment of cold. The edible red clover tea prepared from it’s pinkish pale purple bud is a preferred home treatment for stubborn cold, dry coughs, bronchitis and even whooping cough. Gargling with the tea also helps in relieving sore throat. The herb is rich in vitamin C and micronutrients such as calcium, magnesium, thiamine, that help kickstart the immune system.
